Stress

A need to hide from feelings of failure and worry can snowball, one task avoided quickly devolving into weeks or even months of backlog, unread emails & messages, tasks left unfinished, and an overall sense of too many commitments all left half-baked. This can fuel the belief that you don't belong in your role or field, that you're on the wrong path and cannot maintain credibility with yourself. You don't do the things you say you'll do. With self patience and a steady hand, that doubt can be addressed head on - we can explore what it is that will serve you best in life with career decisions, relationship boundaries, communication skills, personal value, and lifestyle choices. If you're asking yourself: "Is this really right for me?" Well, let's investigate!

Perfectionism
Academic challenges

Fear of getting things wrong, "ruining your own work," or feeling like you can't live up to the expectations can be paralyzing. It's hard to get unstuck from this mindset, but it can be done if you're willing to invest in changing how you think, behave, and engage with your materials, passion, or work. That includes growth in thinking as well as in action. You can be assertive, brilliant, inspired, curious, and motivated. Let's revitalize your love for what you do.

Self care

Compassion for the self is at the core of a life well-lived. And wherever you go, there you are. My hope is to collaboratively build a robust plan for improving your day to day quality of life. Maintaining health, hygiene, emotional wellness, spiritual practice, positive social connection, and professional boundaries are all pieces of this puzzle. If amenable, you can expect frequent assignments to complete tasks outside of session, implement new routines, challenge how you talk to yourself and others, and maximize use of free time. Having quality time (with both yourself and others) takes precedence over "quantity time" in my book.

Life transitions

Finding emotional support around experiences past, present, and future can make the difference between thriving or just surviving. I can help provide insight, warmth, and an analytical approach to understanding your obstacles, worries, and pain. Life is composed of a series of transitions, overlapping, repeating, and at times demanding our acknowledgment - sometimes it's sink or swim! Whether adjusting to life in NYC or a graduate school program, a new job or relationship status, or the past making itself increasingly present in your current day life, we can work together as a team to develop deeper understanding of interpersonal dynamics as well as the most important relationship you have: the one with yourself.
